Imagine a living Grandfather Clock, twisting with leaves and branches and scenes from the Forest of Dean’s Past, which holds memories and stories, and hopes for the future.
The Grandfather Clock, created by local artist John Slater, is an art installation commissioned by the Green Pledge Project @ Gloucestershire Archives and also supported by Wyldwood Arts for this event.
The Grandfather Clock opens up to reveal images from the past. It holds three books: of memories, of the present, and of the future, and await your contributions.
Come and talk to the artist about this project, bring your stories, memories, drawings, old photos. These can be recorded on paper, or as sound recordings. There will also be the opportunity to decorate animals of the forest with words and collage, to be part of the installation. The Green Pledge Project invites you to explore historic records to understand how we have shifted from living sustainably to beyond what the planet can support.
Our touring exhibition with be at venues throughout Gloucestershire and South Gloucestershire. Find out more – The Green Pledge Project | Gloucestershire Archives.
