Creative Walk in Nature, with a Food Twist, Linear Park

Join us for an inspiring creative walk in nature at Linear Park in the Forest of Dean – Part of Wyldwood FoD FRINGE 25. Tickets available: https://www.eventbrite.co.uk/e/creative-walk-in-nature-with-a-food-twist-linear-park-tickets-1243363707319 When: Sunday 16th March, 10:30am – 12.30pm Where: Linear Park/Ruspidge Halt, near Valley Road (Linear Park, Saint White’s Road, Ruspidge, GL14 3ER) Level of fitness: Easy flat route, wear walking boots/wellies. Cost: Free/Donation Participants will be offered pieces of food which reflect the colours along the way. Ie: chocolate, biscuits to relate to colours of soil, pieces of kiwi fruit, lime, green apples to reflect the greens of grasses, mosses etc. Participants will try to make the colours of the foods with paints and pastels before eating them, then use these shades/hues of particular colours in their study of tree bark, lichen, grasses etc. The group will be offered over 5 stops in the 2 hour session so will have 5 opportunities to eat, achieve colours and relate to places. Timings to fully enjoy the experience: Arrive for 10.30am start with a 2 hour walk with lots of stops to respond to nature. Need to know: Please wear suitable walking boot/shoes, waterproof/warm jacket, weather appropriate. Try to be as ‘hands free’ as possible. Notebooks will be provided and art materials but if participants wish to bring any of their own that’s fine. Participants will be offered pieces of food which reflect the colours along the way. This event is suitable for all ages but children must be accompanied by an adult. A new path surface has recently been laid making it easier for those who find walking difficult. The route is flat. We stop regularly so people can enjoy the creative tasks. Participants should dress appropriate for the weather and wear strong boots or walking boots. Cost – suggested donation of £5 will help towards the materials Tickets are by donation. We are a not-for-profit organisation. All proceeds go towards funding for our activities and events, cultivating creative communities throughout the Forest of Dean. Your Canopy Leader A walk designed and guided by Sara Rickard. Sara has lived in the FoD for over 20 years, is a textile artist and educator and a member of the Canopy steering committee. A member of farOpen and the Embroiderers’ Guild Sara’s own work focusses on stitch, both by hand and machine and is greatly inspired by the beauty of the forest. www.sarajoyrickard.com
