Bream Community Library is pleased to welcome back storytelling troupe The StoryMongers for a performance of Shakespeare’s Sonnets: The Fair Youth, with interpretation and narration by Eddy Martin and music by Philip Gibbs.
Entry is free! Donations are welcome on the night.
‘A superbly original interpretation and telling of Shakespeare’s sonnets.’
‘Atmospheric music and thoughtful delivery of the sonnets with the helpful added explanations after each one.’
Eddy Martin, Narrator. He has been the narrator with the StoryMongers since their first show, the epic tale of Beowulf. Since then they have gone on to perform The Rime Of The Ancient Mariner, The Pit And The Pendulum, The Tell Tale Heart, The Raven, The Ballad of Reading Gaol and others.
Eddy is an actor who has performed at The Bristol Old Vic and the Ustinov Theatre. His latest performance was in Queen Margaret by Jeanie O’Hare with the Downpour Theatre Company.
Philip Gibbs, guitar, has produced a series of groundbreaking recordings as composer and guitar improviser, and played on well over sixty with heavyweight jazz groups including internationally recognised players – William Parker, Paul Dunmall, John Serry, Roy Cambell, Keith Tippett, Hamid Drake, Markus Stockhausen, Paul Rogers, and many others. His approach to guitar performance includes many extended techniques and preparations, which he uses to great effect in his work with the StoryMongers. He has been described in recent reviews as a master of six or seven performance styles, and regularly receives excellent critical notices from downtown New York gallery.
