The Forest of Dean: Lore of Water and Stone.

November 8 @ 10:00 am 1:00 pm

The work examines how elements – water and stone – have influenced cultural narratives in the Forest of Dean over time, exploring stories such as the legend of the Wye and Sabrina, curative waters and wells, scowles, megalithic monuments, and mining myths. The audio pieces combine field recordings from around the Forest of Dean with storytelling and folksong.

We’ll be sharing excerpts from the audio documentaries and there will be live performances of poetry and song from contributors to the project. It’s an opportunity to hear how the folk of the Forest of Dean connect with their landscape through story and song, and how folk history continues to evolve today in response to contemporary pressures on the land and community. The final audio documentary will be posted on Spotify: ‘Forest of Dean Stories’ and you can keep up to date on the progress on my instagram – @entangledecologies
