Ed will tell us a little bit about his fascinating career before talking about some of the world’s most unusual and endangered plants.
Ed is currently the CEO of leading outdoor charity Ernest Cook Trust. His previous roles have included Director of Wakehurst, Kew’s 535-acre wild botanic garden; General Manager of Morden Hall Park and Rainham Hall in London; Assistant Head Gardener at Chelsea Physic Garden; Head Gardener at Nymans (National Trust). He is a Clore Fellow and former chair of London Parks and Gardens Trust.
Ed will talk about the threats facing floral biodiversity and the role botanic gardens can play in stopping extinction. Ed’s talk will be full of beautiful illustrations, some of which feature in his latest book,
Rare Plants: The Story of 40 of the World’s Most Unusual and Endangered Plants.
